Welcome!

"NIKON – The power of pictures" is a pilot project which has shown that emotional pictures can help to reduce physical pain. The project has attracted great interest among patients and their family members, as well as in the media. Together with the Schmerzzentrum Kassel, Göttingen University and University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf, Nikon has now taken the next step with a scientific study "Modulation of Pain Experience" which investigates, for the first time under clinical conditions, how looking at pictures can help to mitigate pain. Background

Millions of people in Germany suffer from chronic pain. The cause of their pain is often totally unclear and many attempted therapies prove futile. A study by the University of California has shown that positive pictures, memories and experiences appear to have a favourable effect. more In their search for alternative treatment methods, Nikon and the expert Dr. Andreas Böger, head of the Schmerztherapiezentrum Kassel, launched a scientific research series entitled "Modulation of Pain Experience", in which the pain-mitigating effect of looking at pictures is now being investigated under clinical conditions for the first time ever. This continues Nikon's pilot project "NIKON - The power of pictures", which allowed people to send photographs to their nearest and dearest who had to spend Christmas in hospital.
